Source down versus network blocking

A streaming source is a server. If the server is offline, the stream cannot load for anyone. If your network is blocking it, the server is fine but the path to it is not. Both look identical on screen: a spinner that eventually fails. Distinguishing them is a matter of evidence, not of staring at the spinner.

The most useful evidence is uniformity. If every channel fails at once, the shared components - your network, DNS or the playlist itself - are suspect. If one or two channels fail while the rest play, the fault belongs to those sources. Intermittent failures across everything point to an unstable connection rather than a block.

There is a third state worth naming: throttling. A network that deliberately slows streaming traffic produces the same spinner as a block, but the failure is slower and sometimes intermittent. Throttling is harder to detect than an outright block, which is another reason the hotspot test matters - mobile networks are far less likely to throttle this kind of traffic to the same degree.

Check your own network first

   Confirm ordinary web traffic works on the same device before touching the app.

2. 2.Restart the router and device

   A clean restart clears stale routing and DNS states in most home networks.

3. 3.Try a mobile hotspot

   Run the app over a phone's mobile hotspot to test whether the fault follows the network.

4. 4.Interpret the hotspot result

   If the hotspot works, your home network is blocking or throttling the source.

5. 5.Use a VPN

   A VPN bypasses IP-level blocks; re-test with it enabled to confirm.

IP-level blocking is a fact of life for streaming domains on many internet providers. It applies to sideloaded and store apps alike, and it is general networking behaviour rather than anything specific to AK47.

If the hotspot works but the home network does not, the remaining work is at home: restarting the router, changing its DNS, and checking whether any security suite or parental control applies to the streaming device's address. Each of these is a general home-network task, and each is within the scope of a careful user to perform.

The playlist may be stale or malformed

Sideloaded streaming apps usually rely on a playlist or channel list that points at the sources. If that list is out of date, or contains malformed URLs, the channels point nowhere even when the app itself is healthy. Refreshing the playlist is therefore one of the first checks, not a last resort.

• Refresh or reload the playlist from the app's settings.
• Re-enter a custom playlist URL that you maintain yourself.
• Check the playlist provider is still operational before assuming an app fault.

Updates, stale builds and retired sources

Outdated builds can point at retired sources. When a service changes its source infrastructure, older client builds are often left pointing at addresses that no longer exist. If channels stopped loading after a change on the service side, the app you hold may simply be too old to know the new addresses.

The distinction between an outdated app and a bad network is worth making before you update. If other apps stream fine and only this one fails, the network is healthy and the stale-build theory deserves attention. If nothing streams, the network is the more likely suspect regardless of the app's age.

DNS and the resolution path

Your DNS server decides where the source's hostname resolves. A DNS server that filters domains, or one that is failing, produces the same spinner-and-fail as an outage. Switching to a public DNS resolver is a safe, general Android change that eliminates one whole class of causes.

• Change the device's DNS to a public resolver.
• Flush the router's DNS cache if you manage the router.
• Confirm the change with a simple resolution test before reopening the app.

Changing DNS on the router rather than the device covers every device on the network at once, but it requires router access. Changing it on the device alone is faster and safe, and it is the right choice when you do not control the router, such as on a shared or rented connection.
